Thailand : Had Yai & Koh Lipe (2016)

I've been receiving pm on the details of my recent trip - Thailand : Koh Lipe therefore I'm gonna share the full details here for all to see.

Basically there are 2 common routes to Koh Lipe
1. Fly to Langkawi (for Malaysian), then head to Koh Lipe by speed boat.
2. Fly to Had Yai, Thailand. then from airport head to "Pak Bara" and board speed boat to Koh Lipe.

For this trip we decided to take the 2nd option so we can visit Had Yai as well. Below are the expenses list:

Pocket Money : 10000 Thai Baht (RM1000)

Return Flight (Air Asia) : RM 192.08 per person

Accommodation:
Koh Lipe - 3 nights (The Reef Hotel) : RM 102.75 per night included tax & online charges
- Recommended for budget stay, 10min walk from walking street, quiet area for sleep. Clean & helpful staff, they can speak in english.

Had Yai - 1 night (Crystal Hotel) : RM 172.66 per night included tax & online charges
- Recommended if you have budget to spare. Near to Asean Nigh Bazaar, opposite Central Festival Mall and near to Makro. All within walking distance. Very beautiful hotel. Convenience too!

Here come the daily itinerary (8 April 2016 - 12 April 2016) !
Day 1 : Malaysia KL - Thailand Had Yai - Koh Lipe
- TBS took klia transit to KLIA2 : RM38.50/person
- Breakfast at KLIA 2. Flight 11am.
12pm (Thailand Time) - Arrival at Had Yai Airport. Bought quick lunch at the local famous bakery shop (which you can find in the airport) and bought a 7 days tourist sim card.

Had Yai famous bakery, highly recommend!

2pm - Arrival near Pak Bara (Hub where you board speed boat to island), bought return speed boat ticket at Tarutao Speed Boat Ferry Team counter, our taxi driver brought us there to buy the ticket.
Pak Bara - Koh Lipe speed boat return ticket : 1200 Baht / per person
Taxi Van service transfer from airport to Pak Bara - 2 hours journey : 2500 Baht / way
Since we arrived early therefore we need to wait for the speed boat arrival. There are only 3 times transfer daily.
while waiting, selfie!

A reference for the speed boat schedule

3:30pm - boarded speed boat and another 1 and half hour journey to destination. Zzzzz and meditation LOL
5:30pm - Arrived Koh Lipe, everyone arrived need to wait at a temporary transfer hub due the speed boat unable to get near to the beach. Upon arrival, purchase Longtail boat transfer ticket (must) : 50 Baht / person + pay 200 Baht for cleaning fees (foreigner), if you able to speak in Thai you can get Thai's price at 20 Baht / person. shhh... :P
welcomed by Sunset upon arrival at Pattaya Beach

The only happening place at Lipe - Walking Street
6:30pm - Check in hotel - The Reef which is 10 min walk away from Walking Street. After a quick rest we out to dinner.
7pm - Found our dinner place! "Progress Restaurant" which offers Buffet dinner at 490 Baht / person but drinks charges separately. Nice and clean restaurant. Below are some snapshots! Staff are helpful and foods are fresh. Worth paying. *wink*

Fresh fresh fresh! Yummy yummy yummy!

10pm - After heavy dinner, had a walk, checking out the walking street w/o planning what to do tomorrow. LOL
very famous local landmark

very considerate hotel, prepared this for the room guest.

Day 2 : Thailand - Koh Lipe
10am - After a great sleep, we woke to the beautiful environment with birds singing in the morning. Headed to Walking Street to hunt for breakfast, well definitely stop by 7-Eleven for breakfast shopping as well but don't be surprise for the pricey stuff due after transport by boat all charged LOL. After that we decided to stop by "Thai Lady Pancake Shop" for breakfast. A very comfort place with friendly owner. We sat for few hours there chit-chat relaxing.
7 Eleven - great source for foods in Thailand

Famous Pancake aka Roti on the island - Personally love Chocolate Banana flavour most!

My drinks at the morning LOL! Satisfied!
12pm - After heavy breakfast, we decided to walk walk around. You can find many things at the shops on the island from snorkeling gears, clothing, accessories, foodie and many more. But... it's kinda pricey due transported from mainland. Still, we did some shopping there as the accessories are killing!

2pm - Due to the hot sun is melting us, we decided to relax in massage shop where you can find at Walking Street. Basically we do go for massage services whenever we visit Thailand LOL.
Massage - 2 hours : 600 Baht / person, Pedicure & Manicure : 300 Baht / person

check out my new colours and new wristband! big love!

5:30pm - We decided to go "Sunset Beach" to enjoy the sunset view at Koh Lipe. It is 20min walk away from Walking Street, so if you not a person that likes to walk i suggest you to grab a "tut-tut" service. Sunset beach not a place for nightlife nor water activities. The beach is quiet and only for relax / sunset viewing.
Sunset Beach

Dogs everywhere on the island

I love this handsome guy

8:00pm - Went back nearby our hotel for Dinner, decided to try this new place, just opposite our hote, name "Thai Dream Restaurant" which you will see lots of local people dining there. The meal cost us around 1000+ Baht for 4 dishes + rice + drinks for 4 person. Strongly recommend for Tom Yam lovers. They serve really tasty tom yam!

Guess this is the best tom yam on the island!

Vege vege but very tasty

Fried pork awesome

this cost 450 Baht but worth it, heavenly delicious!

10:00pm - Head down to Pattaya Beach for some sea breeze. Really busy beach as the corner full of bars to chill.  Without hesitate we chose one of the quiet bar and guess what we were the first customer of the night LOL.. so as reward we get to enjoy all the seats before other customers slowly came. The cocktail cost us 170 Baht / glass and mix drink cost 250 Baht. I would say this is a MUST-DO at Koh Lipe as we really total relax at that very moment with wind blowing, soft songs, furkids around, fire dance, drinks, good companion.

Drinks + furkid + sea

Day 3 : Thailand - Koh Lipe
9:00am - Island trip would never be complete without Snorkeling. Therefore day 3 we sign up for one of the snorkeling package with a local tourism agencies. You can find plenty of them at the Walking street, pricing roughly 550 Baht or 650 Baht depending on which island you want to select. As for us we chose 650 Baht package (half day trip + life jacket + lunch pack + drink + fruits!). Due my hubby can speak in Thai we got discount, only 600 Baht / person and added one more island! Great deal xoxo Below are some snapshot from the Snorkeling trip.

Koh Hin Ngam
3:00pm - Back to Lipe island, after some snack session and hang out awhile we went back for a nap.
7:00pm - Due to the big love of Thai Dream Restaurant we back to the same restaurant again for dinner. We ordered Tom Yam again and tried out few other dishes. All were great! The meal cost us 600 Baht and all were satisfied. Endless "LIKE" for this restaurant. As for the last night on Lipe we decided to just enjoy enjoy enjoy... relax relax relax

Day 4 : Thailand - Koh Lipe to Had Yai
6:30am - Woke up early for the last beach at Koh Lipe - SUNRISE BEACH! Just as the name, 10 min walk away from our hotel. We rush there to see Sunrise. Don't expect any restaurant there, only a cafe that belongs to a resort and some local houses nearby.

7:30am - Breakfast at a local stall where often visited by locals. Cheap and delicious. Less than 300 Baht for 4 person. A really local taste. Well I prefer to experience how local live their life instead of visiting tourist attraction thou.

Yummylicious Thai Tea!!!
8:30am - Check out from hotel, and thanks to our helpful hotel staff they provide free transfer service sending us to the Pattaya beach to hop on speed boat and say bye bye to Koh Lipe. At the beach you need to pay 50 Baht again for the longtail boat transfer to the "hub" before you hop on speed boat.

11:00am - Arrived Pak Bara, picked up by our VIP Van and another 2 hours journey to Had  Yai town. 2 hours journey : 2000 Baht / way discounted price due we used same service from same company.

1:30pm - Arrived Crystal Hotel Had Yai. A beautiful, clean and grand hotel. Enjoy to the fullest!
2:00pm - Quickly rush to Central Festival Mall, the biggest mall at Southern Thailand, Songkhla Province for our late lunch! Well for lunch place we chose "MK" which has the similiar concept as BBQ Plaza. The meal cost us 1600 Baht ++

7:00pm -Finally get to eat McD Choc Pie and Samurai Pork burger at Thailand. It was awesome!
8:00pm - Went to Makro for snacks buying. Really cheap but you can only buy in dozen haha
10:00pm - rest at hotel..enjoying the environment and watch "Syfy" channel till late.

Day 5 : Thailand - Had Yai to Malaysia - KL

some of our breakfast
7:30am -Woke up early and hop on Tut Tut - 30 Baht / person / way to "Kim Yong Market" for a very localize breakfast. It is a morning market where you can get lots of foods and groceries shopping. The breakfast cost us less than 300 Baht and it's really really satisfying.

11:00am - Check out from hotel. Went to shopping at Central Festival.

2:00pm - Airport transfer was arranged by hotel. Fetched by Honda city and only cost us 100 Baht / person /way.

3:00pm -Upon Arrival at airport get to know that our flight delayed oh man! But never mind. We continue to relax at airport walking around and guess what we received gift from Air Asia! woohoo!

7:00pm - Safely arrived KL, ride KLIA Transit - RM38.50 / person to collect our car that parked at TBS for 5 days cost us only RM20.
Home sweet home. That marks an end to our trip. Some may thought our trip less check in at those tourist attraction but fyi this is an unplanned itinerary trip. We decided to go freely and just do whatever that comes in mind. We had lots relaxing moments during this trip and we really get to enjoy the surrounding and received lots unexpected encounter. It's a great trip. Looking forward for more! Till then, hope my sharing may provide you some ideas for Koh Lipe.
